A dictator wouldn't allow his conquered people to have any power. He would either kill or enslave them. They wouldn't simply move from general of one army to general of another.

Please don't post single words, MBY.
I think the different groups have their own leaders, and Bowser dictates those leaders. Maybe Bowser pretends that he's being a "business partner" with the high guys or something, there does seem to be some "if you do this, you get this" going on. Mafia style? It may be possible that the lowest levels don't really know that Bowser is controlling them.

Ya, like in SM64, they probably helped Bowser and in return Bowser let them use the Power Stars.

Don't know about that...why would they want them? But Toomai's right. Besides Lava Pirahna even said that if it guarded the Star Spirit, Bowser gave it the volcano.

The power stars make you powerful. What self-respecting bad guy wouldn't want power. I meen besides maybe wiggler.

I don't think that specific Wiggler was a bad guy, but yeah, everyone wants power. Getting it from Bowser (or keeping it for him) is probably an honour. (Until the good guys appear.)

Bowser didn't give everyone the Stars, though. Eyerok is ancient, and looks like he has had the star for a long time.

Yea, you might think that alot them just found the stars or something but actualy I think I remember it saying something about the castle having all of it's stars until they were recently stolen by Bowser. Bowser gave some stars to his generals and hid the rest. It's possible that some stars were found accidentaly by some creatures that just happened to be wandering around in the areas were Bowser hid them. Or the stars just somehow found their way to them or maybe Bowser intentionaly hid them in places were he knew strang creatures would find them. So Bowser could have given Eyerok the star either by accident or on purpose, but I don't believe eyerok had the star before the game unless Bowser somehow went back in time to give it the star, which I guess is possible. I still think it's more likely that Bowser or one of his minions went down into the pyramid and made sure the star got to eyerok who probably didn't even have the power to move until given the star.

Everything about Eyerok just screams ancient god though. I'll try to find an exact quote, but I believe he said something about "sleeping for a long time." This wouldn't be true if Bowser woke him up or gave him life. Maybe it's an elaborate scheme and Eyerok just believes he/the star is ancient.

If time moved as we'd expect within the picture worlds, then Mario would never be able to "replay" Stars.

Bowser could have given eyerok the star without waking it up. Like a partial wake up. Not really awake but back from the dead. Still sleeping.

That doesn't make too much sense to me. Bowser would want to make sure they would protect the Star and not treat it like some cursed item.
Anyway, back on topic (Thwomps, Whomps, etc). The new design for the Tox Boxes in Galaxy is very interesting. Before, they looked like metal boxes with painted faces, but now they're like carved stone or hollowed-out Thwomps. And their shell is a lot thinner (less crushing power?). While the old Tox Boxes were obviously mechanical, the new ones seem like they could be part of the Thwomp family. Thoughts?

Before we move on, I'd just like to say I don't think we can consider replaying stars canon. To accept them is also to accept the menu screen, because Mario would have no other way to select a star to go to. The Toy Boxes probably look different as an attempt to make them look space-y.

I'm sure you mean Thwomp...but I didn't know it was named Marty. He's just an ultra-powerful Thwomp Bowser locked up because he was unstable.

To my knowledge, "Marty" is completely unofficial (it's a fan name). And since he only exists in a game without story, dialogue, or anything of the sort, we know pretty much nothing about him.

But we do know that he's locked up and when released, he goes on a rampage. And you're right; it's a fan name. I searched on the Mario Wiki and got squat.

It's real. I did it once. And this forum is active, but we respond more than making new posts.
