There aren't any peaceful Shroobs willing to teach the language. Plus, the whole attack didn't last that long, because Babies Mario and Luigi were the same age through the whole game.

Perhaps the word "shroob" it's just how the Shroobs pronounce the name of their species. It doesn't nessicerily have to be spelt that way by them.

Then they would have been spelled in weird transfigurations of letters, not symbols.

Long story short: Their names are shroobs, the toads found when they heard one of the princesses call themselves that.
If you have any complaints with this summery submit it below this post.

Yes, people can't understander the younger (as seen with Baby Bowser) and the elder was trapped in the star. Peach and maybe her assistants could know what they're called but no one else could.

Well how did elder princess shroob learn english in the first place? If she knew it then it would make sence for other shroobs to know it as well.

Maybe she remotely studied ME's language and only saw it useful for herself to learn.

Yeah, you wouldn't want your minions to learn the language, talk to the Toads, but then guff it and cause something unexpected to happen.

Maybe it's just in-game; that's all I can think of. So maybe Mario and co. learned their name and spread it to the media.

Elder Princess Shroob.

New theory: The mario bros. found out the names of the shroobs from elder princess shroob. Kylie koopa wrote a book about the invasion and when it became a best seller a video game was made about it. The game had several translations of shroob language and the names of the enemys were added for convinience.
P.S. Kylie koopa really did wright a book about the invasion.

That's basically the same. Kylie Koopa is part of the media.

Speaking of which, how was the text of the Shroobs translated into English (for example, when Mario fights Princess Shroob herself)? Stuffwell is my only logical guess for that.

Well, they might have learnd some of the shroob language after they left and translated it in the game/book. The mario bros probobly didn't understand what they were saying though.
And welcome to the forums xanthos.

I think the Shroob army only learned to speak L33T language since that is the language the brainwashed Hammer Bros. spoke

Ya, they were probably learning up on the language by reading internet forums.

Shorthand's been around longer than the internet has. And über started out as a snowboarding word. That's the best I got.
