Not if she can control herself sufficiently.

Sometimes there is going to be damage. Exploding is a dirty business. But Bombette knows when to hold back. The mindless suicide bombers don't.

But wouldn't Bombette take damage? Partners don't take damage in PM1. Thet can be stuned, but they don't faint.

I guess that would be an in-game thing, though. In actuality, any of the partners could take damage.
What does everyone think about concluding that all bob-ombs are sentient, but some are mindless suicide bombers?

There's definatly somthing going on inside their heads. Atleast the big ones. Weather they blow themselves up strong enough to make them faint seem to be ther own choise. As for the little ones you usually see being thrown, those are just walking expolsives.

Mmmm the ones that talk are living creatures, the ones that just blow up are machines. But they all "blow up" like a grenade by their own means.
No wait, they can't be living because they have fuses and windup things in their backs.

So the talking ones can think, but the small ones that are thrown are just machines, right?

Yep.

But the talking ones have wind ups and fuses.

I think those are there because the mushroom kingdom residents are based off things in our world.
also in past games they didn't a wind up or fuse or both

Yes they did.

So those in the picture YM just posted are nonsentient machines, but Bombette, Bobbery, etc. are living creatures, right?
Are they machines too, though? As YM pointed out, they have fuses and/or wind-ups, which leads me to believe that the are either cyborgs or magically animated as a race.
OR--if they are creatures--the mindless ones could be a branch of the Bob-omb family that never evolved brains while those in Bombette's class eventually evolved conscious thought.

I think they're all machines, but some are aware of their existance and have personallities. (like bombette) and some are just explosive with legs. (like those used in the newer Mario Kart games)

Wait.... The windups and such could be accesories that are removable. Pa-Patch from PM2 has a wind up made of bones, and Bob-bettes fuse is braided like hair.
Only today I thought about things that could just be cloths, yah know how we have crazy clothing, wearing a KKK mask doesn't mean we have pointy heads.
But people who have never seen the KKK might think that.....
Ok I don't know where I'm going with this

Well, the windups do perform a function, so I don't think that they're just an accessory.
Pdoogan--good explanation.

If they're machines, it would be easy to swap windups. Maybe fuses, but it'd be harder.

Guess you're right about that. Now, who makes these things? Bowser probably manufactures the mindless drones.

HOLD THE PHONE!
Remember the Bob-omb family on the Excess Express in PM2? They had a kid!
And the Bob-ombs breath can be seen in Fahr Fahr Outpost, but I could just be getting a little too in depth.

...I'm getting the feeling were starting to get into an infinate loop woth this topic, as I remember these point being brought up before. Anyone have any fresh idea's? Perhaps they're all machines, but magic brings them to life. As we see in PM2 bob-ombs seem to be able to be born and die.

Post by Toomai on Aug 31, 2006 21:13:47 GMT -5
They could die because of rust/freeze-up/dead battery/any other machinery-destroying causes.
And if a pair of Bob-ombs wanted a child, couldn't they just go and buy one? (for lack of a better term)
