Heh, I like that idea ^^ I also noticed that the leaves used to show where wind is in YIDS share a strange resemblence to tanooki leaves, they even have little section cut out of the side, just like the symbol of Tom Nook's shop in Animal Crossing (Tom Nook is considered a tanuki in the Japanese version of the game)

There's no such thing as a Tanooki leaf, you guys are getting mixed up with the raccon suit leaf.

...well, that's what I always called them. Also it's not the leaf that gives you the suit, it gives you the tail.

Are tanooki suits made out of tanooki fur? Perhaps that's why their so rare, they're an endangered species.

So Toad is a poacher for killing them...? Mario being involved in a black market seems...iffy. I don't think tanookis are rare, just very quick are hard to find and catch.

Still, killing a intelligent creature isn't very nice. Of course, there's hardly anything that isn't intelligent on the mushroom planet.

Think of the kind of legal repercussions...have people on ME even heard of the word "sue"?

I'm not sure, there might be a lawyer in one of the paper Mario games, but I doubt it.

I assume the one's that are used in SMB3 aren't real, considering that the hammer bro and frog suits are also used and it's rather impossible to preserve the skins or similar animals. ---- Also, if you don't mind a little SPM spoiler in Fort frances, one of the rooms has a list of things Frances want to buy, including a tanooki suit made of "real tanooki fur" so I'm guessing they usually aren't made of real fur.

Well, there's a lawyer in Super Mario Sunshine...but there's no suing involved.

The hammer bros suit is most likely just hammer bros armor. shadowgoomba: if there's a lawyer, you can bet on sueing existing.

The lawyers could work for the government exclusively.

Why would they do that?

A law, perhaps? I don't know, it just seems that since everything is intelligent, someone would get offended. Maybe they just think differently...

What if all of the Tanookies live on the chain of islands from SMS, and that's why we don't see them much at all?

Tanooki suits are made with crushed Super Leaves otherwise Mario would get sued by that lawyer from SMS

A Super Leaf doesn't grant the statue power, though.

The statue power may just be an extra spell put on the suit
