Even if Species Evolved in Mushroom Universe(Which I think they Don't), Spirits can't Evolve. The Theory of Evolution is a Physical Process and CANNOT affect Spirits! Not true. Evolution is based around natural selection. If some spirits "died" or essentially ceased to exist, the ones that didn't would be more adapted to their situation. This, for all intents and purposes, is evolution.

Not true. Evolution is based around natural selection. If some spirits "died" or essentially ceased to exist, the ones that didn't would be more adapted to their situation. This, for all intents and purposes, is evolution. Yes, but only if the spirits that remain can reproduce. Otherwise it's kind of pointless since if the weak spirits die, so must the strong, even if it's later.

Spirits are constantly being made by creatures dying. It's effectively the same as reproducing.

Yeah, but... that's not the same! We're talking about spirits evolving, but if the strongest spirits can't do anything to "pass on their genes" or the equivalent, that has no natural selection effect. And since the new spirits come from dead people, there's a constant influx of weak spirits anyway. So the evolution of Boos would most likely depend on the evolution of their species when they were alive, then.

That's true. But they still do have evolution, just from their living selves.

Boo's were never "Physically" Alive. They where Born Spirits. Even if they could Reproduce, the Theory of Evolution is based strictly as a Natural, Physical process, and as such, has no Effects on Spirits!

I don't see why natural selection wouldn't naturally select the strongest to exist.

Although they are spirit, their "body" (or rather "physical entity they can materialize into, don't forget they can become visible and invisible at will) can change (see: Bootler's moustache). And there are multiple species of Boos too (for instance, Boos that always lived in the light of day became brown (Gusty Gulch Boos), or Boos that always lived in a deep darkness became purple (Dark Boos)). So we can suppose it can apply to them.

That would be adaptation (also can be described as evolution of an individual). Evolution, most commonly, is described as adaptation through generations. Since we don't yet know if Boos can reproduce (or do we?), we cannot really say whether or not they are able to evolve as a species. More info on where boos come from would be helpful with this. Can anyone find that quote from PM2 that talks about the Shadow Queen creating all the boos?

But since there's presumably a steady stream of new generations of Boos (otherwise, they would die out as a species), evolution would still apply.

Also, do boos ever really die? I'm not sure since King Boo seems to keep coming back unless there is more than one King Boo. But if they don't die, that might explain why there seems to be a steady stream of them even though Mario and company seem to keep killing them. Or perhaps there's just more Boos around somewhere than what appear in games.

Any proof of that? The only guy who tells you the history of the door, Grifty, doesn't mention that in any of his stories: www.mariowiki.com/GriftyIn fact, since one of the four heroes was a Boo, they likely had existed before she came to power.

Boos can't die before their natural death, as they are already dead in a way. But they age, and I guess that at their "death" they go to the Underwhere or simply vanish and stop existing (at the end of M&L1, Mario and Luigi killed Cackletta's ghost, and she vanished, I somewhat doubt she's in the Underwhere).
Boos can feel hurt though.

Well, I think boos might be different from normal ghosts, and Cackletta's ghost/spirit was different too. She was only preserving herself inside Bowser's body by using magic, until Mario and Luigi came and expelled her.
About the Boo talked about in PM2. It actually says that that boo was fighting along side the same monsters who were working for the Shadow queen, before a koopa caused her to change sides. But I still can't find anything that talks about the Shadow Queen creating all boos.

It is clearly said that "she made many demons. One of them was a Boo." or something. If my Wii was still working I'd check. I'm not sure about the english version now, but the French version is directly translated from the Japanese one (so much that they took the "Vivian is a man" joke seriously) and this is said.

No, what was said is that the Boo heroine was once working for the Shadow Queen's side. It doesn't say anything about her creating them.

Bow's Character pretty much proves that Boo's are a Species and are not Ghost!

She is the Princess of the Boos, so either the Boos are a Species, or they are the deceased Members of one Species! And she tells her Buttler "I'm not a Child anymore", implying she was Born a Boo, and that Boos age!
