You are only referrered to a II/Jr. If your named after your father. If a name skips a generation, you don't get any specific title. Besides nowhere in official nintendo media does it say anything about what Bowser's father's name really is.

You can't be a jr if it skips a generation, you have to be a II.

Yah know it's a completely different culture, language transitions don't matter.
Especially with English, being so ridiculously flawed.
( Things should be spelled how they sound! Colonel... give me a break it's Kernel!!! )

[I know... It's annoying. Plus, it doesn't help when translating to other languages...

What about the O' in Wendy and von in Ludwig? I thought names like that were consistent in families and not an individual getting them. +

The O in "Wendy O" is probably just her middle initial. As for the Von in Ludwig, that's a bit trickier.

I always thought that about Wendy, I don't think its Ocean as stated in LL. I think it will probably be more like Olivia or something.

If someone has von in there name, their actual firstname is -name- von. So Ludwig's official first name is actually Ludwig von.

No, I belive Von was accually Betovens middle name. It seems to be a rather common german middle name (Don't know is it still is today though...)

Beethoven's name was actually van not von.

It can't be a middle name because it's never capitalized. I was partially wrong...the Dutch van and German von are not part of the last or first name; these words are prepositions meaning "of" or "from". Like Jack o' Lanterns came from Jack of the Lantern in Irish legends.

Going back to the II/Jr. thing, is it possible that the two are one and the same in Koopa culture?
Also, concerning the KK, I always thought of it as something of a USSR-type land. In other words, it's vast and well-populated (has to be well-populated for Bowser to afford all his troops), yet somewhat barren. Perhaps this would be something of a pretext to invade the MK.
I also commonly imagine a Goomba-populated territory, somewhere on the outskirts of both the MK and KK - once belonging to the former, now the latter due to the betrayal of the Goombas.

Goombas did betrray, yes, but they can't start their own nation because they rely to much on others, mainly because of lack of arms and weak physical strength. Psychic powers can only bring them so far.
