If we had to explain it, I'd say camera angles and his size relative to what's around him created the illusion that he was bigger or smaller.

game cams are the wierdest things eva!!! they add things and stuff like that and when it moves fast it makes things look different!! So I agree with what claws said!!!

Well, I don't know. We could just say that somehow there was an optical illusion. But I think calling it video game physics might be a better idea.
