Most of the places you see in the Mario games are just the skeleton of the actual place, only showing important features.

Well it wouldn't make sence to show stuff you couldn't do anything with.

He's talking about the backgrounds of 2D stages. Makes perfect sense and it's actualy not that new of a theory.

Still, Hawaii is a large island and it doesn't have enough farmland to grow flour for hundreds of cookies daily.

But Hawaii is not a single lage Island, it is a chain of islands...

I meant the single island named Hawaii that is part of that island chain.

Than maybe they import the cookies if they don't have enough farmland for them.

The ones on Yoshi's Island do, but not the ones on Yo'ster Isle. Also, somehow THE Yoshi was there and made it sound like that was his home.

That's part of what this discussion is about.

Maybe the yoshis go fishing. But really, I think that nintendo just put all the important stuff in the game and didn't worry about where it came from.

So are we agreed that Yo'ster Isle has fruit, but it was omitted by Nintendo? If so, they use it to trade with other nations for cookies. If we're all fine, then let's explain Yoshi's appearance on Yo'ster Isle.

Yo'ster isle could be his summer home.

Explain how he got there, how he can interact despite there not being any interaction (and thus no translators) between the two islands, Yoshi's reasoning for going to an extremely similar island, etc.

He got there by boat, and who said there was no interaction between the islands?

Well, they're nowhere near each other for starters.
