Although highly unlikely, could a Yoshi's insides have space-time bending properties? Or are their stomach contents, egg production facilities, and tongue storage all tied directly to a special section of their hammerspace?

Something we always forget: Their can be more than just one Yoshi in a level. Teamwork people.

Yes, that makes perfect sense. The select-a-Yoshi screen doesn't make much sense anyway.

No, I'm sure that there was only one yoshi of a color in both YI and YS.

In Yoshi Island, definatly. Not so sure about Yoshi Story.

In Yoshi's Story it appears that way, but how else would every Yoshi get to the next level? In additions, the pages always refer to the Yoshis as plural.

It's talking about all the yoshi's, not just the one that compleated the level.

Has anyone considered the fact that yoshis seem to have the ability to encase them selves in an egg on their own? the baby yoshis from YS might have not been just hatched, unlike the SMW baby yoshis and the yoshi kid from PM2.

Sounds reasonable. It happened in the SSB series and to an extent in SMW. (Because Bowser put them inside). But the pages say things like "not even the elephants could stop the Yoshis," implying they were all in the level. And like I said, the Select-a-Yoshi screen doesn't seem realistic.

Well, we were talking about the thing on Yoshi's back. I think it is a vestigial shell. The ancestors of yoshis had the tongues, but had small bodies with a shell to withdraw into. They gradually evolved so they could throw eggs, and walk upright-ish, giving them advantages...

But Baby Yoshis in SMW aren't born with shells...

Well they might grow them as they get older.

I guess that makes sense. But why would they need to throw eggs?

To protect themselves from certain enemies.

Wouldn't his tongue, ground pound, jump, combat skills (SSB), Egg Roll, spitting, running, Flutter Jump, and items be all he needs, though? I mean, dang, he already has a ton of powers with few weaknesses.

They make him too formidable. If such a thing had so many abilities, such high intelligence, decent strength, opposable thumbs, a constant need of food, AND so few weaknesses, Yoshis would eat up all of the resources and they would become extinct. Plus, it doesn't help the matter that they are so numerous.

There seems to be alot of fruit on the Island though....

Not enough to feed the appetite of several Yoshi herds. Besides, Lavalava Island doesn't have that much fruit on it other than coconuts, and Yoshis live there. (They're not even the green ones they like from SMS)

Well do a lot of yoshis live there, or just a handful of yoshis? On yoshi Island they have the super happy tree with grows infinit fruit. And yoshis don't just eat fruit.
