...and guess what? They copied the Wii controller. Their version only has 6 degrees of freedom and seems a little irresponsive. Plus, the press conference didn't do much to excite the crowd at all.
What does this all mean?
According to the forums at GameSpot, Sony's gaming business is going down. There are 360ers who now want to get a Wii "just to stick it to Sony". Using your PSP as a rear-view mirror for a PS3 racing game? The GCN-GBA connectivity was better than that, and the PSP battery life is bad as it is.
Sony might have a chance if Nintendo doesn't show up.

Say what you will about the Wii's quirks, but it is shaping up to be a fun experience. I'm getting a Wii and a 360, but probably not a PS3.

When I was a kid I hated PlayStation and worshipped Nintendo. Now that I'm older I still don't really like PS, but I have a more well-rounded view overall.

I tend to be drawn towards Nintendo more because I was never a fan of super-violent video games. Perhaps that's because I'm a girl, I don't know. But the whole shooting people until they're a a bunch of meaty chunks was never my thing.

I'm sort of the same way, Pdoogan. I prefer the tamer games. But every now and then I indulge in a bit of the old ultra-violence with my Xbox.

Well, GTA's no longer exclusive, so Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, and the platformer series such as Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, and Jak are the only real reasons I'd own a PS3. Plus, Kingdom Hearts is really popular right now.
Nintendo, on the other hand, has a multitude of established franchises that I simply can't resist, no matter how odd the console is. Microsoft has Rare and Halo, so that's why I support them.

Anybody think this generation will see the drop of Sony into second place?

Definately. An it would not surprise me if they even dorp down to third. With a pricetag like that, they're just asking for trouble.

Anybody think this generation will see the drop of Sony into second place? Maybe since the PS3 is expensive, hard to develop for, most companies don't have a dev kit yet. But Sony always stays #1 for some strange reason, it might do bad in the beginning but as time passes by, it will still be in first

Oh, I forgot about how hard they are to develop for. Many developers are complaining about it, and I think it's probably going to turn several away.
I might buy one, however. Metal Gear Solid 4 looks really cool. Hopefully, though, they'll just port it to the 360 with some added features.

They won't be 3rd place.. Because of Japan. The PS3 will sell better in Asia than the 360.

That's a good point. The 360 doesn't exist in Japan for all intents and purposes.

Why do they have such a bias against it? The Microsoft name, maybe?
